A National KidsFest tradition for over 20 years, Championship Clogging is proud to showcase some of the nation's most talented dancers on the Gazebo stage!
This energetic show is written, choreographed and directed by competitive dance veterans Blake Bartlett-Dunn and Heather Bartlett-Kohberger. Blake and Heather have danced together most of their lives and began teaching in their teens. They opened their first studio in 1995 and captured their first National Champion Clogging title in 1997.
What does it take to be a champion in the world of clogging? A lot of hard work, countless hours on the dance floor, traveling many miles to compete and challenge other teams across the nation and a dedication to a sport and dance that has its roots deep in American history. Many say that clogging is the melting pot of American dance; some call it America's Step Dance".
Clogging finds its roots in the Appalachian Mountains with the early Colonial settlers and their Appalachian Mountain Style Square Dancing. It was originally thought of as the "Farmers' Dance", thus the familiar term "hoedown" was brought to life. Over the years, fancy footwork from many cultures and nationalities has been woven into the fabric of today's clog dancing.
