Discipleship Focus

Silver Dollar City Attractions partners with Young Life international youth ministry and Discipleship Focus to offer the Young Life Discipleship Focus program each summer. Discipleship Focus brings college students affiliated with Young Life from around the nation to its wooded campus next to Silver Dollar City, providing summer work experience at the theme parks along with spiritual guidance, Bible studies and activities in a supportive, Christian community.

The ten-week program includes one-on-one mentoring, small group fellowship and focused studies led by former Young Life staffers Will and Betty Wyatt.

Three decades after the program began at Silver Dollar City, Discipleship Focus has logged approximately 1200 alumni and has branched out to other Herschend Family Entertainment affiliated properties, including Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

For more information on Discipleship Focus, contact coordinator Dennis Fuller, or Discipleship Focus, 223 Young Life Lane, Branson, Mo. 65616, 417-338-8804.

Share It Forward

"Family Helping Family" is the theme of Share It Forward, created for Silver Dollar City Attractions and Herschend Family Entertainment employees to provide funds for financial assistance to other employees in need. As Share It Forward is a nonprofit charity coordinated outside the company, employees facing emergencies or other needs may receive assistance without tax obligation.

An entirely voluntary and anonymous donor program that illustrates Giving From the Heart, employees who want to participate as donors may contribute through payroll deductions, fundraisers or cash donations. Contributions are tax deductible and the company matches contributed funds up to an annually designated amount. One hundred percent of the employee-donated funds go to help other employees in temporary or critical non-medical need.

A committee comprised of employees considers applications for assistance, submitted anonymously by the Share It Forward Coordinator. The financial assistance is not a loan or cash advance; recipients may, when in improved circumstances, "share it forward" to assist someone else.
