Wonderful Treats From Hannah's Ice Cream Parlor
Wonderful Treats From Hannah's Ice Cream Parlor

Hannah's Ice Cream Factory

Hannah was a young woman living in Georgia who decided to make a change in her life a few years after the Civil War. She was for the most part alone in the world, so she sold all that she had, except for her mother's treasured recipe box, and bought a stage ticket to take her as far as it would go. It took her to Silver Dollar City where she settled and married. Her homemade, hand cranked ice cream recipe soon became a favorite for church socials and other town events. It didn't take long to figure out that the town needed an ice cream parlor and that it would be very successful.

Sweet treats abound as homemade ice cream is cranked out daily by our indoor 4-bucket churn featuring flavors like Baird Mountain blackberry, mint chocolate chip, butter pecan, Georgia peach and the classics - vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and more!

Did you know:

Ice Cream Sundaes came about due to a 'law' prohibiting the sale of ice cream sodas on Sunday. To get around this law the soda was omitted and a new dessert was born. The new dessert was named Sundae in honor of the day it was served. The spelling was changed so it would not offend.

Dolly Madison served ice cream at her husband James Madison's second inaugural ball in 1813. And George Washington paid almost $200 for a specific recipe made in two large bowls using lots of ice, salt and...40 minutes of shaking one bowl while stirring the other.

Ice cream came to the colonies in the 17th century. The first hand cranked ice cream churn was invented by a woman named Nancy Johnson and she received the patent for it in 1847. This is not widely known because she sold her rights to William Young for $200. He called it the "Johnson Patent Ice Cream Freezer".
